By transforming your kitchen and garden waste into compost, you can create a natural, cost-effective mulch that nourishes your plants and improves your soil. Join our gardening workshop to discover simple, effective composting techniques and turn everyday waste into garden gold!

Join us on the first Friday morning of the month for hand’s-on, informative Gardening Workshops in our Studio at Old Barn Garden Centre.

Join us and discover how to turn your kitchen and garden waste into nutrient-rich mulch for your garden. We’ll break down the science of the nitrogen-to-carbon ratio plus, we’ll guide you through getting started with hot composting, wormeries, and the traditional garden heap. Be part of nature’s cycle and give your garden a healthy boost.

You will learn:

  • why garden compost is so brilliant for your borders
  • the difference between hot composting, the traditional compost heap, and wormeries
  • about the carbon to nitrogen ratio and why it is important
  • how to create a working compost heap
  • the benefits of hot composting and how to get started
  • wormeries
  • how to resolve common compositing problems

The Venue:

Our very own studio space is set within the grounds of Old Barn Garden Centre, Dial Post, South of Horsham. Our dedicated space for courses, is a light airy and spacious place to learn.

Easy plants to grow from seedThe Group:

Jenny teaches in small groups (max 10) which ensures everyone gets the opportunity to practice, and time to ask questions. Our monthly workshops are a great way to meet like minded people with an interest in gardening and the natural world.

People who want to get to know their gardens better, whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience but want to develop your skills and knowledge.

Tutor:

Jenny’s approach to teaching gardening is influenced by a passion for greener gardening and a strong belief in working with your soil and climate rather than against it. As the owner of the Lindfield Gardening Company, Jenny has a wide range of experience including horticultural gardening, planting design and teaching gardening to enthusiastic beginners.
