Fused Glass Art – A Summer Flower Piece
Join expert glass artist, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference and learn to create your own beautiful glass flower piece inspired by the colours of Summer.
You will be welcomed with refreshments before spending the first part of the morning walking around the beautiful flower fields observing and drawing some of the amazing flowers. This part of the day will help develop your ideas for your own glass piece. Time will then be spent creating some simple guided sketches, taking time to observe the shape and colours of the flowers.
Jazz will then give you a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available before moving on to designing your own unique statement glass piece. This can be a square platter 30cm x 30cm, or a glass bowl 30cm diameter, or a glass vase approx. 25cm tall. Jazz will guide you through the practicalities of the design process and show you how to incorporate the ideas from your sketches.
After breaking for a delicious homemade Pitfield Barn lunch you will create your design using a wide range of coloured accessory glass with the help and guidance from the expert. Your finished design will be taken away and fired, and returned for collection in approx. 3 weeks.

Jazz will fire your piece after the class for you and will post it to you within approx 3 weeks of the course day

Jazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton, specialising in glass. For many years she taught design and crafts to children and now she teaches glass techniques to adults. She has a reputation for patience and intimate knowledge of glass as material and a variety of techniques for crafting it.

Jazz will fuse your piece after the class and then send them to you within approx. 3 weeks of the course day
A tour of the cut-flower fields, with Emma Martin, the proprietor
No experience necessary.
This day involves basic glass-cutting, which Jazz will show you and help you with.
Jazz teaches in small, informal groups (max 9).
The day is very hands-on, practical and relaxed.
Pitfield Barn Cut Flower Farm is a British cut flower farm, nestling in the Sussex countryside, close to the picturesque village of Hurstpierpoint.
