Join award-winning garden designer Keri Fitzpatrick for two engaging talks plus lunch. The morning talk will look at how to plant your garden to encourage more butterflies, bees and bats to visit, and in the afternoon the talk will look at gardening in a changing climate, what to plant and how to adapt your gardening practices.

Pollinator Planting for Butterflies, Bees and Bats (10.30am – 12Noon) and Gardening for a Changing Climate (1.00 – 2.30pm)

Discover how to plant your garden to support and provide a bountiful habitat for wild bees, butterflies and other pollinators. In this session, Keri will give you the low down on how you can achieve a pollinator and wildlife friendly garden.

Subjects covered:

– What makes a pollinator friendly garden?
– What types of pollinating species can I support through planting, and how?
– Other Top Tips to support pollinators in your garden.
– Keri’s favourite plants to support pollinators through the seasons, not just in summer!

By the end of the talk you will have:

– Understanding of the principles of creating a pollinator friendly garden.
– Understanding of what types of pollinators you are supporting and their needs.
– A brief overview of other ways you can support pollinators in your garden.
– A list of plants to support pollinators year round.

Afternoon Talk – Gardening for a Changing Climate and Managing Water

Beginners and garden enthusiasts are welcome.

Kerianne Fitzpatrick Garden DesignerThe Tutor:

Keri Fitzpatrick studied garden and landscape design at the University of Brighton, and has exhibited at RHS Hampton Court as well as Gardener’s World Live, winning a Gold Medal.  Keri has travelled extensively and brings this experience to her garden planting and inspiration.

The Venue:

Old Barn Nurseries is one of the largest nurseries in Sussex. The talk will be held in their purpose-built studio ‘The Garden Room’.
