Join garden designer and tutor Keri Fitzpatrick for a relaxed, creative workshop learning the art of seasonal wreath making. Drawing on her love of natural materials, Keri shares her authentic, garden-led approach as she guides you through the process. Surrounded by fresh, seasonal foliage, berries and natural decorative touches, you’ll design and craft your own Christmas wreath — celebrating the textures, scents and colours of the season, and bringing a little of the garden indoors.

This hands-on workshop focuses on working with natural, sustainable materials to create a moss-based wreath on a reusable metal ring. You’ll be guided step by step through building, styling and finishing your design, with plenty of space to make it your own. Expect a calm, welcoming atmosphere and the chance to slow down and create something truly personal.

Plan of the Day:

• Settle in with tea or coffee — and perhaps a warming mulled drink or hot chocolate with ginger or cinnamon-spiced treats, if the season calls for it
• Introduction to materials and demonstration of wreath base construction and tools
• Hands-on: preparing and layering foliage onto your moss base
• Building your wreath: layering, securing materials, balancing form
• Adding structure, depth and decorative details
• Styling, finishing touches and optional ribbon
• Group review, photos, and tips for caring for your wreath

Tutor:

Kerianne (Keri) Fitzpatrick is an experienced, award-winning garden designer whose work is shaped by a rich background in art, travel, and design. She studied garden and landscape design at the University of Brighton and has created numerous show gardens, including the Macmillan Cancer Support Legacy Garden at RHS Malvern.

Keri comes from a background in luxury travel and hospitality, and her love of travel and natural landscapes continues to inspire her — resulting in gardens that are both beautiful and deeply rooted in their surroundings.

Alongside her design work, Keri also works as a lead designer in Juliet’s studio and shares her passion and expertise as a tutor at The Sussex Garden School. She is passionate about celebrating the beauty of natural materials and bringing the essence of the garden into the home, weaving this ethos into her craft-based practice of creating seasonal wreaths.

By the end of the workshop you will have:

• Understand the key steps of seasonal wreath making
• Feel confident working with natural materials and simple techniques
• Have created your own beautiful, handmade Christmas wreath
• Take home your finished wreath along with the reusable metal ring to enjoy future wreath making with your new skills

• All wreath-making materials: metal ring, moss, seasonal foliage and decorative accents
• Use of tools and equipment
• Guidance and demonstrations from your tutor, Keri
• A relaxed, supportive studio environment

Keri tutors in small, informal groups.
The workshop is hands-on, relaxed, and creatively led, with plenty of guidance and encouragement. Keri creates a welcoming space where everyone can explore their own ideas, enjoy the process, and take pride in their finished wreath.

The Venue:

Our very own Sussex Garden School Studio, within the grounds of Old Barn Garden Centre, Dial Post, South of Horsham. Our ‘Oak Barn’ Studio is a great, light and airy place to learn, and we use it to host a whole range of craft and gardening workshops and talks.
