Britain’s largest “Prairie,” or “Naturalistic,” garden.
Sussex Prairie garden opened to the public in 2009, just one year after planting. We count ourselves amongst a handful of large new gardens, designed and created in the 20th and 21st century, in Great Britain.
Surrounded by mature oak trees our eight-acre garden consists of a series of interlocking arcs of large planted borders in a naturalistic style. The borders encourage exploration and adventure and visitors are welcome to roam in amongst the mighty plants to further enjoy the experience.

How to Share your Garden with Wildlife. Make your garden a haven for wildlife and for people. There’s a lot you can do to improve your existing garden or to plan a new garden for wildlife. Your garden style can be formal or informal and still contribute to wildlife food and habitat. Juliet will share tips on how to share your piece of the planet with our animal friends.

A hands-on workshop to learn how to use colour for vibrant planting and original combinations. You will be drawing inspiration from art, photographs and nature itself……using coloured media and magazine clippings to create an original planting scheme that reflects your chosen piece.

Prairie gardens like Sussex Prairie are stunningly seductive, but can it be done on a smaller scale? And how would you do it anyway? Juliet will introduce you to the stalwarts of a successful prairie garden and explain the design tips for this unique style of garden.
