She studied garden and landscape design at the University of Brighton and has created numerous show gardens\, including the Macmillan Cancer Support Legacy Garden at RHS Malvern. \nKeri comes from a background in luxury travel and hospitality\, and her love of travel and natural landscapes continues to inspire her — resulting in gardens that are both beautiful and deeply rooted in their surroundings. \nAlongside her design work\, Keri also works as a lead designer in Juliet’s studio and shares her passion and expertise as a tutor at The Sussex Garden School. SUMMARY:Fused Glass Bowls and Vases- Summer Sensations
DESCRIPTION:Join expert glass artist\, Jazz Dixon and design and create your own beautiful floral glass piece\, inspired by the colours and flowers of Summer. \nPlan of the Day:\nYou will be welcomed with refreshments before spending the first part of the morning walking around the beautiful flower fields observing and drawing some of the amazing flowers. This part of the day will help develop your ideas for your own glass piece. Time will then be spent creating some simple guided sketches\, taking time to observe the shape and colours of the flowers. \nJazz will then give you a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available before moving on to designing your own unique statement glass piece. This can be a square platter 30cm x 30cm\, a glass bowl 30cm diameter\, or a glass vase approximately 25cm tall. Jazz will guide you through the practicalities of the design process and show you how to incorporate the ideas from your sketches. \nAfter breaking for lunch (please bring a packed lunch with you)\, you will create your design using a wide range of coloured accessory glass\, all under Jazz’s expert guidance. \nYour finished design will be taken away and fired. It will be available for collection from West Sussex or East Sussex\, or we can arrange for your piece to be posted to you in approx. 3 weeks. SUMMARY:Spring Lino Printing Inspired by Nature
DESCRIPTION:Discover the art of lino printing\, on this creative course day inspired by the beauty of Spring. \nIf you cannot attend this date then we have another date towards the end of the year – Christmas Lino Print – Friday November 6th  \nPlan of the Day:\nJoin us at the beautiful\, Pitfield Barn Cut Flower Farm to learn how to design and carve your own linocuts. Relax in beautiful surroundings and enjoy  delicious refreshments as part of the day- please bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our gardens. \nWe begin with an introduction to linocut – how to use the carving tools and basic cutting techniques. At first\, you will make your own small practice block to learn the techniques. You will be shown how to ink your lino block and burnish prints by hand. \nAfter a break for lunch and tour of the flower fields\, you will return to your creations. Once confident with the techniques\, you will design your own A6 Block\, taking inspiration from the gardens\, resource materials or your own images\, before printing it on to a range of stationery items. \nBy the end of the workshop you will have several completed images to take home. \nTutor:\nWendy Darby\, is a qualified teacher\, designer and crafter. Enjoy a fun\, creative day making unique pieces for your tree and home while getting into the Christmas spirit. \nPlan of the Day:\nYou’ll be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz introduces you to the world of fused glass. She’ll give a short talk on the different types of glass fusion\, the range of materials available\, and how they can be used to create varying types of designs. With plenty of glass and accessories to explore\, you’ll be encouraged to experiment and create your own unique designs. \nUnder Jazz’s expert guidance\, you’ll learn how to cut glass safely\, and how to handle and use a range of accessory glass to create your own Christmas decorations. By the end of the course\, you’ll have created one large decoration and three smaller pieces. \nJazz will then take your designs for firing\, and your finished decorations will be posted to you within approximately three weeks—in time to enjoy in the build up to Christmas! \nTutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. DESCRIPTION:Join expert glass artist\, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful glass poppies\, suitable for indoor or outdoor display. \nPlan of the Day:\nYou will be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz gives a short introduction to glass fusing and the wide range of techniques used. Having talked you through the projects for the day\, you will have time to think about your own creative ideas and will have the choice of a creating your poppies in traditional red\, or a small selection of other colours. Jazz will then introduce you to glass cutting\, and with expert guidance\, you will cut and shape your glass to create the petals for your flowers. \nFollowing a break for a delicious lunch\, you will construct your two poppies\, with the opportunity to use accessory glass to add details to your flowers. Once your pieces are complete you will have the opportunity to use the off cuts of glass to create smaller flowers\, either to wear as a brooch or mounted on a piece of clear glass to create a glass hanger. \nAt the end of the day\, Jazz will take your creations away for firing and your finished pieces will be posted to you within about 3 weeks of the course day. This part of the day will help develop your ideas for your own glass piece. Time will then be spent creating some simple guided sketches\, taking time to observe the shape and colours of the flowers. \nJazz will then give you a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available before moving on to designing your own unique statement glass piece. This can be a square platter 30cm x 30cm\, a glass bowl 30cm diameter\, or a glass vase approximately 25cm tall. Jazz will guide you through the practicalities of the design process and show you how to incorporate the ideas from your sketches. \nAfter breaking for a delicious Pitfield Barn lunch\, you will create your design using a wide range of coloured accessory glass\, all under Jazz’s expert guidance. Once you have decided whether you wish to create a bag or pot holder\, you will cut the cloths you have selected\, whether they be the ones you have bought with you or there will be extra fabrics available that you can use if you choose. The long strips of cloth will then be ready to be woven on a frame loom. This part of the day will help develop your ideas for your own glass piece. Time will then be spent creating some simple guided sketches\, taking time to observe the shape and colours of the flowers. \nJazz will then give you a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available before moving on to designing your own unique statement glass piece. This can be a square platter 30cm x 30cm\, or a glass bowl 30cm diameter\, or a glass vase approx. 25cm tall. Jazz will guide you through the practicalities of the design process and show you how to incorporate the ideas from your sketches. \nAfter breaking for a delicious homemade Pitfield Barn lunch you will create your design using a wide range of coloured accessory glass with the help and guidance from the expert. But we have other fused glass art courses with places still available and you can find out more about these courses here…. \nFused Glass Relief Panels – The Art of Kiln Carving on 9th May \nFused Glass Art Poppies on 24th September \nChristmas Sparkle in Fused Glass on 9th November \nOr if you’d like to register your interest in future ‘Fused Glass Art – Plant Reliefs’ courses\, please email admin@julietsargeant.com \nJoin glass artist\, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful glass flower-relief piece inspired by the textures and colours of Summer. \nPlan of the Day:\nYou will be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz starts the day with a short introduction to glass fusing and the days project. Jazz will work with you to prepare the clay slabs that you will use to create your designs. Once the clay is rolled there will be a time to wander around the beautiful Pitfield Barn cutting garden so you can gather some specimens to use in your design. \nThe plant material you gather will be used to press into the clay and create your designs. You will then use a plaster mix and cover the clay to create the relief design. This is a messy workshop and you will be provided with an apron and a mask to wear during this part of the creative process. \nThere will be a break for a tasty lunch made in the Pitfield Barn kitchen\, before returning to your mould. During the afternoon\, having removed the clay and cleaned your mould\, you will select the coloured glass for your piece and add any coloured accents that you choose. \nAt the end of the day your finished moulds will be taken back to Jazz’s workshop where they will be fully dried before they are fired.\nPlease note: Your pieces will be finished by Jazz before being sent to you by post\, arriving approx 3 weeks after the course day \nTutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. CLICK HERE for more information. \nJoin us for a relaxing day surrounded by the beautiful flowers of Pitfield Barn Cut Flower Farm\, and learn to harvest\, prepare flowers for pressing and be inspired to create your own personalised art. \nPlan of the Day\nThe workshop starts with a demonstration by your tutor for the day\, Wendy Darby\, of the art of flower pressing\, including how to select and prepare your flowers through the seasons. \nYou will choose a variety of fresh flowers from the farm garden to press in your personal flower press. The press and flowers will be yours to take home at the end of the day. \nYou will also work with pre-pressed flowers which we have pressed for you. Wendy will guide you through techniques for mounting and framing your pressed flowers\, to make cards and other keepsakes during the course. \nTutor\nWendy Darby\, is a qualified teacher\, designer and crafter. She has had a varied and eclectic career\, both nationally and internationally\, which she draws upon for her crafting and design inspiration. DESCRIPTION:Fused Glass Flowers – Colours of Spring\nJoin expert glass artist\, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful colourful glass flowers\, inspired by the spring blooms of a beautiful Sussex flower farm\, that you can enjoy either inside or out in your garden. \nPlan of the Day:\nYou will be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz gives a short introduction to glass fusing and the wide range of techniques used. Having talked you through the projects for the day\, and having drawn inspiration from the Pitfield Barn flower fields\, you will have time to think about your own creative ideas\, before selecting colours for your own flowers from a wide range of options. Jazz will then introduce you to glass cutting\, and with expert guidance\, you will cut and shape your glass to create the petals for your flowers. \nFollowing a break for a delicious Pitfield Barn lunch\, you will construct your flower designs\, with the opportunity to use accessory glass to add details to your creations. Once your 2 pieces are complete you will have the opportunity to use the off cuts of glass to create smaller flowers\, either to wear as a brooch or mounted on a piece of clear glass to create a glass hanger. \nAt the end of the day\, Jazz will take your creations away for firing and your finished pieces will be posted to you within about 3 weeks of the course day\, ready for display. The workshop will start with a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available. You will look at the different types of glass fusion and how the material can be used to create different types of designs. There will be lots of materials available and throughout the day you will be encouraged to play and create your own unique designs. \nYou will learn how to cut glass\, how to handle and use a range of accessory glass to create your own fun Christmas decorations\, with the help and guidance from the expert. \nWe will break for a delicious homemade Pitfield Barn lunch before returning to your creations\, and by the end of the day you will aim to have created 1 large decoration and 3 small decorations. \nPlease note that at the end of the course your creations will be taken away and fired by Jazz and then posted to you within approx. 3 weeks. \nTutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. DESCRIPTION:Fused Glass Art – Christmas Decorations \nJoin glass artist\, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful festive glass decorations for your tree and home. \nPlan for the day: \nYou will be welcomed with refreshments on arrival. The workshop will start with a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available. You will look at the different types of glass fusion and how the material can be used to create different types of designs. There will be lots of materials available and throughout the day you will be encouraged to play and create your own unique designs. \nYou will learn how to cut glass\, how to handle and use a range of accessory glass to create your own fun Christmas decorations\, with the help and guidance from the expert. \nWe will break for a delicious homemade Pitfield Barn lunch before returning to your creations\, and by the end of the day you will aim to have created 1 large decoration and 3 small decorations. \nPlease note that at the end of the course your creations will be taken away and fired by Jazz and then posted to you within approx. 3 weeks. \nTutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. For many years she taught design and crafts to children and now she teaches glass techniques to adults. She has a reputation for patience and intimate knowledge of glass as material and a variety of techniques for crafting it. \nJazz has always been creative\, studying music\, photography\, theatre studies and biology at A-level. She has designed opera sets and stage costumes. She draws on all these influences for her work\, as well as her love of nature\, gardens and landscape. This part of the day will help develop your ideas for your own glass piece.\nWe will spend time creating some simple guided sketches\, taking time to observe the shape and colours of the flowers. \nWe will then have a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available before moving on to designing your own unique statement glass piece. This can be a square platter 30cm x 30cm\, or a glass bowl 30cm diameter\, or a glass vase approx. 25cm tall. DESCRIPTION:Next Fused Glass Course Day on Wednesday 19th July \nFused Glass Art for Beginners – Glass Plant Reliefs\nJoin glass artist\, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference.\nLearn to create your own beautiful glass flower-relief piece inspired by the textures and colours of Summer. \nBy the end of the day;\nYou will have enjoyed wandering around the beautiful flower garden and having time to observe and sketch the flowers\nYou will have learnt about fused glass and the range of techniques used\nYou will have used some design skills to create your own unique design for your statement glass piece of your choice\nYou will have created your glass piece (platter\, bowl or vase) ready for firing using your sketch ideas and your design\nYou will have used a range of accessory glass to create your piece \nYou will make for yourself:\nA beautiful plant relief piece and a set of two coasters \nIntroduction:\nWe will start with a welcome and refreshments on your arrival.\nThen into a brief introduction\, by Jazz\, to glass fusing and the days project.\nWe will then need to prepare the clay slabs that we will use to create our designs. Once the clay is rolled there will be a time to wander around the cutting garden and gather some specimens to use in your designs. \nWe will use our gathered plant material to press into the clay and create our designs. We will then mix up a plaster mix and cover the clay to create the relief design. This is a messy workshop and we will give you to wear\, an apron and a mask whilst we are mixing up the plaster. \nWe will leave our plaster to harden whilst we enjoy our lunch.\nAfter lunch you will return to your mold. You will need to remove the clay from the plaster and clean up the mold. You will then select your coloured glass for your piece and add any coloured accents. \nYour molds will be taken back to the artists workshop where they will be fully dried before firing.\nPlease note: Your pieces will be finished by Jazz and returned for collection\, or posted at cost in 3-4 weeks time. \n Tutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. Learn to harvest\, prepare flowers for pressing and be inspired to create your own personalised art.\nThe workshop starts with a demonstration\, by Wendy\, of the art of flower pressing\, including how to select and prepare your flowers through the seasons.\nYou will choose a variety of fresh flowers from the farm garden\, to press in your personal flower press. The press and flowers will be yours to take home at the end of the day.\nWe will also work with pre-pressed flowers which we have pressed for you. We will guide you through techniques for mounting and framing your pressed flowers\, to make cards and other keepsakes. \nTutor\nWendy Darby\, is a qualified teacher\, designer and crafter.
