SUMMARY:Christmas Sparkle in Fused Glass Christmas Decorations
DESCRIPTION:Join our festive fused glass workshop and create your own beautiful Christmas decorations! Enjoy a fun\, creative day making unique pieces for your tree and home while getting into the Christmas spirit. \nPlan of the Day:\nWe will start with a brief talk and introduction to fused glass and the range of materials available. We will look at the different types of glass fusion and how the material can be used to create different types of designs. There will be lots of materials available and you will be encouraged to play and create your own unique designs. \nAfter our introduction you will chose the projects you wish to work on. You can choose from a Christmas tree or an s curved Christmas panel\, or a tealight holder/bowl. You will learn how to cut and break glass safely to create your design\, using a range of colours\, with the help and guidance from the expert. \nYour second project of the day will be to create up to 3 small tree decorations. You will have a choice of materials and a range of designs to inspire you as you create your own personal pieces. \nJazz will then take your designs for firing\, and your finished decorations will be posted to you within approximately three weeks—in time to enjoy in the build up to Christmas! \nTutor:\nJazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton\, specialising in glass. For many years she taught design and crafts to children and now she teaches glass techniques to adults. She has a reputation for patience and intimate knowledge of glass as material and a variety of techniques for crafting it. \nSubjects Covered:\nAn explanation of the art of fusing glass\nUnderstanding how to choose glass to create beautiful glass decorations\nPractice with different decorative techniques to create your piece\nAn exploration of different ideas & inspiration to spark your own imagination \nBy the end of the day you will have:\n-You will have enjoyed a fun festive workshop\n-You will have learnt about fused glass and the range of techniques used\n-You will have used some design skills to create your own unique design for your own festive decoration\n-You will have created 1 large decoration or panel ready for firing\n-You will have created up to 3 small tree decorations ready for firing\n-You will have used a range of accessory glass to create your pieces.\n-You will have learnt some basic glass cutting skills\n-You will have enjoyed the company of an expert tutor and other like minded creative people. \nThe day includes:\nAll materials and equipment required to create your decorative pieces\nUse of a craft apron\nRefreshments throughout the day and please bring a packed lunch with you.\nPostage – Jazz will send you your finished decorations after firing. You will receive them approx. 3 weeks after the course day. \nWho is the course for?\nNo experience necessary.\nThis day involves basic glass-cutting\, which Jazz will demonstrate and support you with. \nThe Group:\nJazz teaches in small\, informal groups.\nThe day is very hands-on\, practical and relaxed. \n\nThe Venue:\nOur very own studio space is set within the grounds of Old Barn Garden Centre\, Dial Post\, South of Horsham.
