Join expert glass artist Jazz Dixon, and immerse yourself in a creative day of glass art, creating colourful flowers, inspired by spring blooms, to enjoy in your garden or home.
Join expert glass artist, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful colourful glass flowers inspired by spring blooms, that you can enjoy either inside your home or in your garden.
Plan of the Day:You will be welcomed with refreshments and Jazz will begin the course with a short introduction to glass fusing and the wide range of techniques used. Having talked you through the projects for the day, you will have time to think about your own creative ideas, and select the glass you would like to use from a range of coloured glass options. Jazz will then introduce you to glass cutting and, under her expert guidance, you will cut and shape your glass to create petals for your flowers.
In the afternoon you will construct your flower designs, with the opportunity to use accessory glass to add details to your creations. Once your 2 flowers are complete you will be able to use the glass off cuts to create smaller flowers, either to wear as a brooch or mounted on a piece of clear glass to create a glass hanger.
At the end of the day, Jazz will take your creations away for firing and your finished pieces will be posted to you within about 3 weeks of the course day. Your 3D flowers will be suitable for indoor or outdoor display, and each will come with a sturdy black stem.
Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the course day and lunch can either be purchased in the Old Barn cafe, or you can bring your own lunch with you and enjoy it in the studio.
Tutor:Jazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton, specialising in glass. For many years she taught design and crafts to children and now she teaches glass techniques to adults. She has a reputation for patience and intimate knowledge of glass as a material and a variety of techniques for crafting it.

At the end of the day, Jazz will take your creations away and fire them. They will then be sent to you within 3 weeks of the course day.
No experience necessary.
This day involves basic glass-cutting, which Jazz will show and help you with.
Jazz teaches in small, informal groups (max 8).
The day is very hands-on, practical and relaxed.
Our very own studio space is set within the grounds of Old Barn Nurseries, Dial Post, South of Horsham. Our dedicated space for crafting courses, is a light airy and spacious studio, and just a couple of minutes walk from the Nurseries cafe where you can purchase and enjoy your lunch during the break in the middle of the day. Alternatively, you can bring your own lunch with you and enjoy it in the studio.
