Getting the layout of your garden right, is the key to enjoying it for years to come. In Part 1, Juliet will explain how to design your garden to get the most out of your space. In Part 2, you will learn to design a planting scheme for your a new garden layout

In Part 1, Juliet will explain how to design your garden to get the most out of your space.

In Part 2, you will learn to design a planting scheme for your a new garden layout

Getting the layout of your garden right, is the key to enjoying it for years to come. Make sure that you have enough space for sitting, playing, relaxing and also make sure that your plants are in the right place, so they can thrive and perform to their best.

With illustrated talks & drawing exercises, Juliet will take you through a series of steps to creating a basic design with planting.

The Design Process
Surveying and analysing your site
Your garden brief
Putting everything in the right place (a functional layout plan)
The masterplan
Hard landscaping materials
Getting your garden built

Who is the course for?
Beginners and garden enthusiasts are welcome.
This course for anyone who wants to re-design their own garden space; choose hard landscaping materials and then develop a basic planting scheme.

By the end of the day you will:
Understand how to survey and analyse your garden site
Have completed a basic design layout exercise, which you can then apply to your own garden
Considered suitable hard landscaping materials for your garden
South Downs Nurseries Venue:
South Downs Nurseries are a short walk from Hassocks railway station. It is the largest of the Tates garden centres, where you can see one of the widest varieties of plants in Sussex.
The Heritage Centre hosts local artisan food and gift suppliers, as well as
The Barn Coffee Shop and Restaurant offering a varied menu with a focus on creating fresh produce, cooked to order.

The Group
We will be an informal group. Juliet teaches in an accessible, workshop style with illustrated ‘info-bites’ and relevant exercises for you to think about your own garden.
As well as being an award-winning garden designer, Juliet has been teaching gardening to professionals and enthusiasts for over 15 years.
